The Overtones’ single “Gambling Man” sees the vintage music loving group in their new video full of card tricks and games.
The music video was directed by Josh Forbes and produced by Davey Inc. The live action footage was shot on the Red and also on the Canon 5D. The animated sequence at the beginning was created in After Effects as well as the card suit transitions throughout the video.
Once the project was handed over to Nice Biscuits for grading and online purposes, Colourist Kenny Gibb graded the footage on the Da Vinci Resolve. The brief was to make the shots as rich and vibrant as possible, to display the colourful environment. The grade was done in several passes due to the split screen techniques employed in the video.
It was Onlined by Ant on Smoke 2012 and the passes were re-combined and onlined on Smoke in HD. Workflow between Resolve and the Autodesk systems here at Nice Biscuits ensured the process went smoothly.
